Warning! Spoilers for both Thor: The Dark World and Iron Man 3 to follow. Back away slowly if you haven't seen either of them.
Marvel fans were given a New Year treat when Iron Man 3 scribe Drew Pearce sent out a tweet carrying a reference to the studio's latest one-shot, All Hail the King!
Belated happy new year, people. Oh, and #AllHailTheKing— Drew Pearce (@mrdrewpearce) January 3, 2014
While some fans have surmised that the one-shot will deal with the aftermath of Thor: The Dark World and Loki's ascension to the throne of Asgard, others believe that it's going to focus on the Mandarin/Trevor Slattery from Iron Man 3.
Back in October we reported that was going to back to work on a "secret Marvel project" which, according to sources, would see the real Mandarin emerge, furious with how Aldrich Killian and Trevor Slattery had ruined his good name.
There's no doubt that many fans were left disappointed with the Mandarin 'reveal' so it would seem logical that the studio might want to right the wrongs of their deception. Of course there's also the possibility that the one-shot will be more of a comical offering, focusing on Trevor's portrayal of King Lear, which he famously described as "the talk of Croydon."
We'll have to wait until the release of Thor: The Dark World on Blue-ray February 25th to find out.
