Iron Man 3 is steadily rocketing toward us, and as he gets closer, we can expect a whole lot more revealing information to be, well, revealed. Take for example, the prelude comics which have been unleashed in the run up to the May 3rd release date. They provide a wealth of information to the Iron Man enthusiast, including where War Machine was during that whole New York battle thing, as well as a surprise guest at the schawarma diner table.
The second prelude comic has even hinted at why Tony Stark has put together a Deep Space armor, although it also offers up some interesting potential spoilers for Iron Man 3. As always, if you do not want to know, you should probably stop reading. Remember spoilers cannot be unseen, just like certain disturbing internet videos....
One of the most dramatic scenes we've caught sight of so far has been Tony Stark's armory going up in smoke, along with all his armor. We've always assumed this was part of the Mandarins dastardly plan, but perhaps Stark scuttled it all himself?
Why do we think this? Well, the comic suggests that the Mandarin has developed a way to take control of Iron Man's armor. This would certainly correlate with other things we've seen. The trailer showed a set of armor apparently accosting Pepper Pots in her sleep, while another scene showed what appeared to be Iron Man punching a hole in Air Force One. Could these suits be under the Mandarins control? Is he trying to discredit Tony Stark?
Well, possibly. The comic featured some panels which showed a henchman explaining to the Mandarin that he was unable to capture the War Machine armor as planned. However, he explains:
The conflict served its purpose. Our hidden agents analyzed the armor with every imaginable scanning device. The data we collected is invaluable.
Does this analysis explain how the Mandarin was able to take control of Iron Man's armor? I guess we'll have to wait until the movie's release to find out for sure. There's one thing for sure certain; watching Iron Man go toe-to-toe with another Iron Man would be pretty awesome.
