With Twentieth Century Fox's The Wolverine landing July 26th and the mutant ensemble X-Men: Days Of Future Past set to arrive in 2014, the next 12 months will see lots of and his beefy sideburns kicking ass as the fan-favorite X-Men character. Including the two movies currently in production, Jackman has appeared as Wolverine seven times, but he's hesitant about committing himself to any future X-Men/Wolverine movies, admitting to EW:

I wasn't even sure after the first [stand-alone] film if I would do another. I won’t say never, because I’m still loving it. But there would have to be a pretty compelling reason.

While its difficult to imagine anybody other than Jackman wielding the adamantium claws, you only have to look at taking over from on the rebooted The Amazing Spider-Man to see that a franchise can survive, and even prosper, when someone new takes over.

It's also hard to see what compelling reason Jackman would have to return to the character. Early buzz surrounding The Wolverine suggests the movie is going to be fantastic solo outing for the character and with Days of Future Past threatening to do for mutants what The Avengers did for superhero ensembles, what is left for Jackman to do with the character?

I'd like to hear your thoughts on Jackson's revelation. Can you imagine anybody else stepping into Wolverine's shoes? Drop your thoughts in the comment section below.
