Iron Man 3 could arguably be the best movie in Shellhead's heretofore trilogy. is in top wise-cracking form and if early buzz is any indication, the movie is about to do some serious business at the box office. That should make a fourth installment an iron clad certainty, shouldn't it? Not according to , who plays Pepper Potts in the megabuck franchise. In an interview with GeekNation, Paltrow revealed:

I don't think there's going to be [an Iron Man 4]. I think we're done with Iron Man.

We've got the full interview with both Downey Jr. and Paltrow for you to check out, courtesy of the guys over at Geek Nation. Head to the 6:35 mark for the Iron Man 4 chat:

Both Paltrow's and Downey Jr.'s contracts with Marvel are up now that Iron Man 3 is done and dusted and they are under no obligation to return to the franchise. Downey Jr. has already admitted that his time in the suit is coming to an end and he wants to pursue different projects going forward.

It's also worth considering whether another Iron Man movie is really necessary. While its undoubtedly going to be a commercial smash-hit, I felt that Iron Man 4 was starting to suffer from franchise fatigue. It was enjoyable watching Tony Stark do his thing, but I couldn't help thinking that I'd seen it all before. Do we still want to see Iron Man running around in Phase 3 when Marvel has so many more new characters that they want to introduce.

If I was a betting man (and since losing my little finger to a Cambodian bookmaker over a lost bet on the midget wrestling, I'm most certainly not) then I would put money on Downey Jr. getting suited and booted for The Avengers: Age Of Ultron before walking off (or being carried in a coffin) gracefully into the sunset.

I want to hear what you guys have to say about this. Do you think Downey J. will return for Iron Man 4 or should he quit while he's ahead?
