I hope you're sitting comfortably, because things are about to get ever-so-slightly weird. Action movie renaissance man has been using twitter to announce casting updates for his guns'n'ammo extravaganza, The Expendables 3. With his latest micro-missive he's tweeted a suggestion for director:

Say what? Considering the liberal use of question marks and the fact that Sly is talking about a more-than-likely but still make-believe fifth part of the franchise, he's got to be joking - right? Perhaps not, as his next tweet suggested:

Gibson is/was a Hollywood heavyweight; he proved back in his Lethal Weapon days that he can mix it up with the biggest and best action stars. He's also an Oscar-winning director thanks to Braveheart. Even Apocalypto was a beautifully crafted chase movie with some great action.

But, (cough), that was before all the "troubles". Over the past few years, Gibson has been in the news for all the wrong reasons and the last two movies that he starred in, The Beaver and Get the Gringo, were box office flops.

The question has to be asked: Is Gibson damaged goods and would him joining The Expendables do more harm than good? Let me know what you think.
