Are we finally getting the Suicide Squad back in the Arrowverse? A number of recent creative decisions are hinting at it.

Arrow introduced Task Force X during the second half of Season 2 with an initial team of Deadshot, Shrapnel and Bronze Tiger. But the series had to get rid of the team and Amanda Waller after Warner Bros. announced that a Suicide Squad movie was in the works. Last year, Willa Holland — who plays Thea Queen on Arrowtold the Mirror:

"When DC found out they were going to be doing their own movie we had to axe all of the characters before we even got to show them."

had big plans for prior to the disappointing DCEU movie, and fans felt even more disappointed that we never got to see them on the small screen. But with Geoff Johns' appoinment as head of DC Films last year, things may be finally starting to look up.

A Bunch Of Villains Are Suddenly Coming Back

Deathstroke will be back in the Arrow season finale and so will Captain Boomerang. Oliver Queen will seek help from these two to take down Prometheus. (They were were held captive by A.R.G.U.S. on Lian Yu, and we haven't seen them since Season 3.)

Also, recently dropped a trailer for the rest of Season 3 and it looks like Barry will have some help from the bad guys to take down Savitar — specifically, Captain Cold will be back on The Flash to help Barry. Now it seems that another classic Suicide Squad member could be involved as well: in the trailer we see Barry, Cisco and Captain Cold break into A.R.G.U.S. in order to steal an alien power source which is being guarded by King Shark.

Layla and A.R.G.U.S. have been a big part of Arrow this season. Could she finish what Waller started by forming a new and improved Suicide Squad? Deathstroke, Captain Cold, Captain Boomerang and King Shark would make quite a team.

Grodd is also locked up in an A.R.G.U.S. facility, and if Oliver doesn't end up killing Prometheus, then Adrian Chase could also end up there. These two would be a welcome addition to Task Force X.

Which Show Would They Appear On?

Suicide Squad won't be getting its own series anytime soon. But there are two ways their appearance in the Arrowverse could pan out: either on The CW itself — perhaps as the next crossover event between all four shows, with Flash, Green Arrow, Supergirl and the Legends taking on a Suicide Squad gone rogue — or on DC's new digital OTT service.

A live-action Titans series was announced recently for the service, and there are rumors that it could be set in the Arrowverse. Deathstroke being a major Teen Titans villain, the Titans show could be an ideal destination for the Suicide Squad. A live-action Nightwing vs. Deathstroke battle is something everyone would love to see.

Either way, as long as we get a new Suicide Squad in the Arrowverse, fans will be thrilled that this missed opportunity wasn't missed after all.
