The Hollywood Reporter are saying that "Rudd is the frontrunner to play Henry Pym" - the superhero who can shrink down to the size of an insect to to solve mysteries - in Marvel's upcoming Ant-Man adaptation. The magazine also notes that there's "a push to find Pym's 30-ish girlfriend," who's likely to be Janet Van Dyne aka The Wasp.
The internet rumors a week or so ago had and Rudd on the shortlist, but said that Rudd was holding out for more money.
Levitt's name on the shortlist was hardly surprising as he's one of the most requested actors in Hollywood and Marvel has already tried to snag him for its upcoming Doctor Strange movie as well as Guardians of the Galaxy. He's no stranger to comic book movies either, with his turn in The Dark Knight Rises.
Rudd, on the other hand, is a bit of a left-field choice. He's done serious work before, but he's best known as a goofy rom-com thesp, and though I'd expect 's Ant-Man to have quite a bit of humor a la Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy, Rudd has never done an action movie.
Now the search is on for his leading lady, Janet Van Dyne. While recent rumors have pegged Rudd's frequent co-star for the part, THR is keeping pretty quiet about specifics.
What do you think about all this? Is Rudd the right (Ant)man for the job? Would Jones make a good on-screen girlfriend for him? Drop your comments below, Moviepilots.
