Horror fans are eagerly waiting for the latest adaptation of Stephen King's It to finally hit theaters in September after years stuck in development. The 1986 novel and subsequent TV miniseries in 1990 brought on a worldwide terror of clowns (and sewer drains) due to Pennywise, the sadistic clown who preys on children and serves as the story's monster.
Following the pattern of the novel and miniseries, the first film adaptation of #It will be split into two parts with the first focusing on a group of kids, aka The Loser's Club, who take it upon themselves to fight against the evil shapeshifting clown after a series of child disappearances in the late 1980s.
It director #AndyMuschietti will also be in charge of the second part of the duology which takes place nearly 30 years later, the next time Pennywise would awaken on earth and feed on the living. Besides rumored production dates for early next year, not many details have been shared regarding casting of the adult characters. The kids made an appearance at San Diego Comic-Con and a few spoke to MTV about who they would like to see play their adult counterparts:
Here is a breakdown and the young cast's answers:
• Finn Wolfhard (who plays Richie Tozier in the film) - Bill Hader
• Sophia Lillis (Beverly Marsh) - Jessica Chastain
• Chosen Jacobs (Mike Hanlon) - Chadwick Boseman
• Jack Dylan Grazer (Eddie Kaspbrak) - Jake Gyllenhaal
• Wyatt Oleff (Stanley Uris)- Joseph Gordon-Levitt
• Jeremy Ray Taylor (Ben Hanscom) - Chris Pratt
The kids have certainly put in a lot of thought into their answers as they were all so quick to share their thoughts. Any of the adult choices would be great additions to the second installment of the #horror film. The second part of the TV miniseries was always considered the weaker of the two so hopefully the film captures a new take on the terrifying clown mythology through the eyes of the adults, and revives our fears of red balloons and sewer drains.
#StephenKing's It floats into theaters September 8th, 2017!
