Last week's iZombie was a fairly relaxed episode in terms of drama and potential deaths, with the only real problem being zombie hater turned hunter, Harley Johns. Capturing footage of Liv's new love interest and Major's soon-to-be BFF, Justin, in full Zombie mode on his Go Pro, Harley Johns is becoming an increasing problem to the iZombie gang.
This week, Liv was left to consume the charred brains of Finn Vincible, an extreme prank enthusiast and leader of the web series "Stunted Growth." With more than 23 million subscribers, Finn was quite the hit online, but as with all iZombie victims, he clearly had his enemies. Finn was burned to death when a prank and stunt took a turn for the worse and his suit made entirely of hay caught the flames of a ring he was jumping through. His entire death was caught on camera, and though it may seem like his own doing, it was ruled a murder when a duplicate suit — this one flame-retardent — was found stuffed in a trashcan nearby.
Finn's murder aside, keep reading to see the top three reveals from this week's episode of #iZombie!
1. Blaine's Back And Out For Revenge
When we last saw Blaine, Angus had sent one of his men to kill him shortly after Don-E had tried to take over Blaine's business. This week, Blaine is back with a vengeance as he visits an old pal, gets his zombie status back, and arrives at the Scratching Post with a message for his dear old dad. Bounding Angus's feet in cement before tying him up and driving him out to a well, Blaine has a little heart-to-heart with his dad, ultimately doing what he ultimately should have a long time ago.
Blaine tells Angus how he'd visit the well often as a child after his dad's beatings, throwing a penny in and praying for Angus's death. In true Blaine fashion (he exists solely to make his own dreams come true), after being mocked by his father one last time, he lets loose the rope holding Angus up, watching Angus plummet to the bottom of the well and drown.
Nice Blaine may have had us fooled for an entire seven episodes, but I'm damn sure happy to see the real Blaine back in action, and back in business with Don-E.
2. Vivian Stoll Knows Major Is Human — Also, She's Dead
When Season 2 ended, we all pretty much assumed that Vivian Stoll would be the reigning villain of Season 3. Turns out we were pretty wrong. She's been a very helpful character this season — with her company, Filimore-Graves, doing everything in its power to protect zombies. She even helped out Clive with the investigation of the Tuttle-Reid murders, tapping Harley Johns's car in the process.
Unfortunately, though Vivian is a brilliant character — and probably one of the most interesting in the history of iZombie — it seems she's been eliminated. Shortly after revealing to Major that she knew he was human, and asking him to tell her how, her helicopter bound for Zombie Island blew up, crashing to the ground in another explosion.
TV news channels reported her dead, and Liv and the gang seemed to mourn the death of their associate, but whether or not she's truly dead is slightly unclear. For a character so new to the show, and with such a presence, I find it hard to believe that she would be killed off after only eight episodes. She's an extremely intelligent woman, so here's hoping she found a way to survive the crash and outsmart her killer.
It's important to note that Vivian was never shown getting into the helicopter, nor was her body shown after.
3. Justin's Got A Real Thing For Liv — He's Also A Hit On YouTube
After the events of Season 2, with Liv's tumultous love life essentially going down the drain, it's nice to see her have another stab at this thing we call love. This week Liv went on her second date with Major's mercenary BFF Justin, and things seemed to go exceedingly well. Liv kicked off the evening by giving Justin a heartfelt speech on relationships being easier if couples are on the same brains. Cooking up the rest of Finn Vincinble's brain into one of her infamous recipes, Liv then convinced Justin to join her on extreme prank YouTube viral star brain.
The two then headed to the park, downed six cans of Super Max and had what was probably one of the best nights (and dates) Liv has had so far. They ended the evening with a kiss, and although I'm sure we're all still shipping the hell out of Major and Liv, right now Justin could be her best option. The only thing left to do is figure out their ship name. Jiv? Lustin? Looks like us fans have some work to do!
Next week's midseason finale sees Liv go full nerd as she chows down on the brain of a Dungeons & Dragons player. As with every eccentric brain Liv is on, it looks to be a pretty fun episode.
Let us not forget, though, that the gang are still reeling from the effects of the supposed death of Vivian Stoll and a newly-bad Blaine. To make sure you never miss a moment, tune into iZombie Tuesdays at 9/8c on The CW, and Wednesdays on Netflix for us international fans!
