If it feels like you've been waiting forever for iZombie to return, then you're not completely wrong. It's been almost an entire year since Season 2 ended, and with so little info out for Season 3, you'd be forgiven for thinking maybe the zombie-centered show had been cancelled. Luckily, it hasn't, and I've dug around to find out as much as possible about the upcoming season. So if you're a fan of zombies and all things gruesome and un-dead, then keep reading and find out what's in store for Liv, Major, Peyton and more in the upcoming Season 3!
1. Blaine's Daddy Issues Will Be Tackled In a 3-Episode Arc
Fans of Blaine and Angus's tumultous father-son relationship will be happy to know that their complicated history (and even more complicated future) will be tackled in the upcoming Season. Reports about the upcoming season tell us that the actor behind Angus will be return to iZombie for the first three episodes. We'll see Blaine and Angus's relationship take an interesting turn in a 3-episode arc, beginning with the premiere of the Season.
When we last saw Angus at the end of Season 2, Blaine had discovered that he was one of Major's frozen zombies. Making the decision to negotiate for Angus's release, Blaine now holds his father captive. We don't know what Blaine has planned for the father that allowed him to be abused as a kid, (and is pretty much the reason Blaine entered into a life of a crime), but we can assume it's not good. Whether or not a 3-episode arc suggests his demise is imminent, I don't know, but I'll take a wager here that things won't end very nicely for Angus.
2. Liv & Peyton Will Work More Closely Together
Liv and Peyton have gone through quite a bit in the past two seasons, what with Peyton finding out in the most brutal way possible that her roommate and BFF is a freaking zombie! Though Liv did a pretty good job of hiding it, the truth will always come out — and eventually, Peyton saw Liv for what she really was.
While Peyton initially felt unable to handle this overload of information, the two eventually reconciled, even working a case together when Liv consumed the brains of a stripper with viable info for Peyton's case. It's reported that Liv and Peyton will work closer than ever in Season 3, as Liv consumes the brains that help Clive solve a case, and Peyton prosecute the perpetrator. This will be the closest the two have ever worked together, utilizing the full effect of both of their skills, in a 2-episode arc that will see Peyton prosecute in the following episode.
3. There Is More Than One Antagonist In Season 3 — Vivian Is One Of Many
Last season ended with quite a few twists and reveals, but perhaps the biggest of all was the arrival of Vivian. We first met her when she bought the crumbling remains of Vaughn's company, with the insistence that no part of his company have any ties to The Chaos Killer (Major). Of course, we know it does, but with both Vaughn and Rita dead, the only person who can attest to that is Major, and I doubt he'd be jumping at the chance to admit his involvement in that whole debacle.
Nevertheless, although she's a mahor antagonist of the third Season, she isn't the only big bad we'll see Liv come up against in Season 3. Though she'll have Liv questioning which side she wants to be on in the inevitable war between Zombies and Humans, there are reportedly other antagonists in the Season, who are just as bad if not worse than Vivian. We don't know much about who those villains are just yet, but having previously only ever really dealt with one antagonist at a time, it'll be interesting to see how Liv, with the support of her peers, handles more than one antagonist.

4. Ravi, Peyton & Blaine Are Stuck In An Awkward Love Triangle
Peyton found herself in a little bit of a sticky situation last season as she embarked on a romance with Ravi, followed by a romance with Blaine. Of course, Ravi's the obvious choice of the two, but in a shocking twist, we saw that the usually selfish Blaine actually had genuine feelings for Peyton, as she did for him.
Though we're not expecting Peyton to settle down and play happy families anytime soon, she does have a genuine connection with both Ravi and Blaine, and Season 3 will explore the age-old love triangle plot. We can probably expect a few screw ups from Blaine, and maybe even a few from Ravi, but ultimately the decision is down to Peyton. If Blaine decides to be a thorn in Liv's side this season, we could see Peyton sway towards Ravi instead of Blaine. Let's hope Blaine can perhaps find some redemption in his burgeoning relationship with Peyton.
5. Like Father, Like Son — Liv & Major Find Themselves On "Complimentary Brains"
Liv and Peyton aren't the only ones who've had a difficult relationship, as Liv and Major have arguably had the worst of it. Now a zombie, Major is officially the thing he'd been tasked with killing, and being relatively new to the zombie world, he has a lot to learn from Liv.
Reports for Season 3 tell us that for the first time in #iZombie history, Liv and Major will be on complimentary brains. We've seen them both on the same brain during Season 2, but the complimentary brains for Season 3 take the form of Daddy-Daughter brains, with Major on the daughter's brains, and Liv in full parental mode. With the Season inevitably tackling a few darker issues (Blaine's daddy issues, the impending Zombie-Human war etc). It'll be a nice reprieve to see Liv and Major on complimentary brains.
6. Official Poster Reveal
So far, The CW have only released one official poster for iZombie Season 3, which features Liv front and centre. There are reports of Liv rocking a new wig for Season 3, but her appearance here remains largely the same. Whether it's simply an improvement in quality on her old wig or an entirely new look remains unclear. Interestingly, Liv is framed by the words "Zombies Unite". Could this be a clue as to which side Liv chooses in the coming war? Or perhaps she's forming a resistance of some sorts? Only time will tell, and that time will finally hit us next Tuesday, April 4th at 9/8c on the CW.
