Well the votes are in and the undisputed winner of this years was (perhaps unsurprisingly) Meryl "reigning champion of Hollywood" Streep. After the transcendent Viola Davis presented Streep with the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the 74th Annual Golden Globes, Streep went on to give a rousing speech which became the most talked about moment of the entire ceremony (well, if you ignore the fact that Ryan Reynolds and Andrew Garfield ate face).

However, Meryl's acceptance speech which was largely focused on calling out Donald Trump (although never specifically mentioning his name) for publicly shaming a disabled reporter earlier in his election campaign, incurred the Twitter wrath of the future orange POTUS and now has waded in to give her 2 cents on the Streep V. Trump fiasco.

Round One: Meryl Throws The Punches In Acceptance Speech Knockout

Rising to accept her award, a husky who had lost her voice the previous weekend first thanked the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for the honor before going on to celebrate the brilliant diversity of some of Hollywood's greatest actors, going out to state:

"Hollywood is crawling with outsiders and foreigners and if we kick 'em all out, you'll have nothing to watch but football and mixed martial arts which are NOT the arts."

Queue ecstatic (justifiable) applause. Then Meryl took a more political turn, stating that there was one particular performance that truly stunned the beloved this year — and not in a good way:

"It was that moment when the person asking to sit in the most respected seat in our country imitated a disabled reporter. It kind of broke my heart when I saw it, and I still can’t get it out of my head, because it wasn’t in a movie. It was real life... "

Round Two: Trump Reacts With A Three-Part Twitter Left Hook

Wasting absolutely no time, the poetic PR genius that is Donald Trump started bashing out Tweets left right and centre, firstly attacking Meryl's talent and then making her out to be a bully.

The he called her out for being a loser for backing Hilary and then proceeded to defend his mockery of the disabled reporter.

To finish it all off, Donald actually posted a further jibe at the reporter and then blamed the whole debacle on "dishonest media."

Round Three: J.K. Rowling Calls Time On Trump

Outspoken Harry Potter creator and founder of charitable trusts 'Lumos' which aims to make sure children are able to grow up in a safe, caring environment and the 'Volant Charitable Trust' which focuses on supporting charitable causes in Scotland, J.K. Rowling is not one to keep quiet in the face of great adversity.

When the comedy writer and author @TechnicallyRon (no relation to Weasley) Tweeted in the aftermath of Streep's speech that if those celebrities with significant influence could band together, we might be able to save the world from an impending Trumpocalypse, Rowling replied simply but effectively with:

She then 'pinned' the Tweet, demonstrating quite how seriously she takes the responsibility of being a public figure in such a politically tumultuous time before giving Trump the last word:
