Our favorite Star Wars author and editor of Lucasfilm, J.W. Rinzler has just revealed the cover of his new storyboard book for Star Wars - Storyboard: The Original Trilogy. The book doesn't hit stores until May 2014, but we have a first look of the cover for you, which teases some of the juicy inside content.
Read the official synopsis below (via GiantFreakinRobot):
For the first time, Lucasfilm has opened its Archives to present the complete storyboards for the original Star Wars trilogy - the world-changing A New Hope and its operatic sequels, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi - as well as never-before-published art from early conceptual and deleted scenes.
From the opening chase above Tatooine in A New Hope to the Battle of Endor in Jedi, this book presents the visual inspiration behind now-iconic moments. Readers can finally see a full set of storyboards by legendary artist , as well as early boards for Episode IV by Alex Tavoularis and for Episode V by Ivor Beddoes, rarely seen Episode VI boards by Roy Carnon, and Ralph McQuarrie's never-before-seen storyboards for Episode V.
Sounds like there's a lot covered in there and, if Rinzler's previous works are anything to go on, I can personally attest to the greatness of The Prequel Trilogy storyboard book. I know, I know - you all hated the prequels, but Rinzler has unprecedented access to the entire Lucasfilm archive, the pages were littered with awesome embellishments, and it was helluva fun.
Star Wars - Storyboard: The Original Trilogy is available for pre-order at Amazon. Will you be checking it out?
