Only yesterday, was spilling the X-Men beans all over the place, announcing that is set to return as Nightcrawler for X-Men: Days Of Future Past.

Talking to Shortlist for his new British thriller Welcome to the Punch, McAvoy shed some light on the upcoming sequel:

I think it's going to be quite a dark journey compared to the caddish, almost playboy character that we turned him into in the first movie. I think it will be going through a darker place to ultimately get a sorted Professor X that we're used to seeing come the third movie. This movie might be a little bit more of a passing through the crucible for him.

McAvoy also spoke on the ever-expanding cast of Days of Future Past, saying that it will make for one hell of a spectacle.

It's going to be a humongous cast. It's going to be like the cast of the beach scenes in Saving Private Ryan but everyone's a mutant and everyone you've seen in other movies before.

Yeah yeah it's dark. Everything is dark, every movie is dark. My room is dark when I turn the light off. What does that even mean anymore? I want to know exactly what kind of dark stuff young Xavier will deal with...

But, dark or not, I'm going with team X-Men for winning best superhero flick of Summer 2014. What about you?
