We all knew Days of Future Past would involve a time-jumping storyline. Obviously that quickly led to speculation about whether the original X-Men cast would be brought back for Days Of Future Past. It later turned out, that they would. It wasn't long before we began to wonder if the X-Men would meet the older/younger versions of themselves in an alternative dimension. McAvoy has now arrived to put a quick end to that rumor. He told Empire:
I don't think we get any scenes together, sadly. I don't think there's any future self talking to past self.
Now, although this might disappoint some fans, it's probably for the best. Firstly, the original Days of Future Past comics did not feature an old Professor X meeting his younger self (as far as I know), and secondly, these kind of time-travel antics just confuse me. If I'm watching a movie where someone meets themselves in the past/future, I just spend the rest of the film trying to figure out how that could possibly work. In the end I just give myself a headache and leave the cinema without fully enjoying the movie. I've been told ' Star Trek and 's Looper are brilliant films. I mean, I have seen them but I spent most of the film going "Hang on a second? How did that work?"
With this in mind, I can enjoy Days of Future Past without having to pop a load of aspirin afterwards. What do you think? Would you have liked to see the old Prof X meet the new? Let us know below.
