When you are filming on location in a country far, far away from home, joy is discovering that your family has flown all the way from America just to surprise you on your 38th birthday. That was what happened to Aquaman star Jason Momoa, who is currently shooting the DC Comics superhero movie in Queensland, Australia.
On Tuesday, the Hawaii-born actor shared a sweet photo on Instagram (under the handle @prideofgypsies, the name of his production company) showing his wife, actress Lisa Bonet, and their two children — Lola, 10, and Nakoa-Wolf, 8 — celebrating his birthday on the #Aquaman set. Also in the picture were a couple of his cast mates dressed in Hawaiian warrior garb and a super cool Aquaman-themed cake.
In his post, Momoa gushed to his 2.7 million followers, saying:
I have never been so surprised in my life. 38 is the greatest to date. I love u my loveee my babies my friends and OHANA to my cast and crew. Mahalo for caring. It was so beautiful. Mahalos to all the warriors It was an honor. #mindblown. #roots #connected #mytribe aloha j mahalo @jasinboland
Momoa and Bonet, mother of actress Zoe Kravitz (which makes Momoa her stepdad), met in 2005 and married two years later. Check out the happy scene below:
The King Of Atlantis Is Coming
Just as it was for Marvel's Thor: Ragnarok, DC's Aquaman is being filmed in the Gold Coast of Queensland, Australia, with additional filming taking place at the Village Roadshow Studios. Directed by James Wan, other cast members include: Amber Heard (as Mera, the Queen of Atlantis), Nicole Kidman (as Queen Atlanna) and Temuera Morrison (as Arthur Curry's dad, Thomas).
Moviegoers first saw a glimpse of #JasonMomoa as Aquaman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, when Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman opened a digital file that contained footage of the King of Atlantis in an underwater shipwreck while perusing the LexCorp metahuman records. Before the Aquaman standalone film, the actor will reprise his role in the upcoming Justice League alongside other #DC superheroes, namely: Wonder Woman, Batman (Ben Affleck), The Flash (Erza Miller), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and — seriously not a spoiler — Superman (Henry Cavill).
Among the characters Momoa had played in his career, including the titular role in 2011's Conan The Barbarian, Games of Thrones fans will know the hunky 6'4" actor best as the Dothraki King, Khal Drogo, who was given Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) as his queen in Season 1 of the highly acclaimed HBO series.

#JusticeLeague arrives in theaters on November 17, 2017. Aquaman swims into theaters on December 21, 2018.
