As if playing both the King of Atlantis and leader of the Dothraki wasn't already epic enough, Jason Momoa is officially interested in bringing the God of War himself, Kratos, to life in a live action movie.
While the next few years will no doubt be busy for Momoa, what with his stint as Justice League's Aquaman about to kick off, the actor is always planning ahead. When an audience member at a fan Q&A asked Jason if he was familiar with PlayStation's God of War series, Momoa responded, "Do I know God of War? Yeah, the guy with the white paint ... I would love to play him."
As if to seal the deal, the fan rephrased his question and asked, "If Sony ever contacted you would you consider playing him?" At which point Momoa simply replied "Hell yeah," causing the audience to erupt in cheer and applause. You can catch it here:
Looking at the ripping muscles, tattoos, and unruly rage seen in some of his other roles, Momoa is undeniably the perfect fit to bring Kratos to life. The new Kratos design for God of War 4 even sports a mean beard, just like the one Momoa rocks in Justice League and Game of Thrones. Coincidence? Probably. Perfect anyways? You bet.
Now before you get too excited, it's absolutely worth mentioning that Sony presently has no plans for a God of War cinematic adaptation. A movie based on the franchise almost came to light once in 2005 and then again in 2009, but reportedly never got further than scripting.
Still, movie studios have been going hard these last few years with bringing video games to the screen, with movies like 2016's Assassin's Creed and Sony's own Uncharted film in the works. If God of War 4 incites demand for more Kratos, Sony might consider adapting another of their video game IPs. At the very least, they won't have to look too hard to find the perfect lead!
Just Picture Him...
Kratos wouldn't be Momoa's first stab at taking on a video game character, either. The 38-year-old American actor is also set to star in a Just Cause adaptation sometime in 2018 or beyond.
