This article contains spoilers from The Walking Dead Season 7.
The tension has been brewing on #TheWalkingDead during the seventh season with multiple storylines running simultaneously. From Carol's emotional journey at the Kingdom, Jesus and Maggie becoming leaders at the Hilltop and Rick preparing for war with the Saviors, there have been quite a few story arcs for the show to follow.
Tonight's episode brought Rick and the gang to Oceanside and, after last week's heart-stopping episode saw Sasha break into the Saviors' sanctuary, things were bound to be intense. There is no doubt that things are going to reach boiling point in next week's finale, but before we look ahead, let's take a look back at the biggest moments from tonight's episode.
1. Negan Kills Davey
Although Sasha entered the Sanctuary last week in a blaze of glory, It was revealed rather early on in tonight's episode that she had been taken hostage by the Saviors. One of Negan's saviors, Davey, entered her cell and he refused to get her a glass of water if she did not fulfill his demands — which were pretty sadistic threats. When she declined his offer, he became aggressive and threatened to rape her.
However, before he got the opportunity to do anything, Negan appeared in the dooorway of Sasha's cell. The tyrant surprisingly didn't take too kindly to Davey's treatment of their "guest" and, although the Savior apologized, Negan wasn't having any of it. As a result, Negan stabbed Davey in the neck and offered Sasha the chance to join them at the Sanctuary.
2. Gregory Contemplates Killing Maggie And Almost Gets Eaten
After apologizing to Maggie for being a dick, Gregory agreed to discuss the future of the Hilltop with her at a later date. Although it seemed like he was making progress with Maggie, there's no denying that he momentarily contemplated stabbing her — to be fair, it would solve all of his problems if she disappeared. Thankfully, he came to his senses.
Before the pair got their chance to return to Hilltop, the pair encountered a walker roaming nearby. Gregory told Maggie that he'd taken out zombies in the past but his hesitation was evident. As Maggie agreed to dispose of the undead threat, Gregory was attacked by another terrifying walker. Maggie was able to take out one of the walkers and aided Gregory in disposing of the other. Is there anything she can't do?
3. Rick and The Gang Invade Oceanside
It was way back in the first half of Season 7 when Tara stumbled upon Oceanside. This community consisted of a group of female survivors living alone in the woods because Negan and the Saviors murdered all of their male friends. Before Tara departed from her brief stay at the community, the Oceanside women begged her to swear that she was would keep the settlement's existence a secret and she complied, promising never to divulge their location.
However, after feeling compelled to tell Rick several weeks ago, the Alexandrians planned to invade Oceanside in tonight's episode. As Tara infiltrated and begged Tanya and Cindy to surrender their weapons, Rick and the gang made their presence felt by creating an explosion and causing chaos before marching right in to the women's settlement.
4. The Alexandrians And Oceanside Dwellers Team Up
After taking over Oceanside, the Alexandrians were a little disturbed to find out that Tanya had taken Tara hostage. She threatened to kill Tara if the Alexandrians didn't surrender. Rick and the gang managed to plead their case to the Oceanside dwellers, telling them that they are not the threat — Negan is. Some of them were willing to listen.
However, there was no time like the present for the dwellers to prove what they are capable of as an impending herd of walkers quickly approached.
The Oceanside dwellers and the Alexandrians lined up and, in an extraordinary moment, the two teams fired shots simultaneously at the walkers and were able to take out the zombie herd with no human casualties. Afterward, one of the leaders of Oceanside shook hands with Rick, indicating that they are on the same page..
5. Dwight Agrees To Help
Last week's episode ended with Rosita encountering someone who resembled Daryl, although I think we all worked out that it was really Dwight. Tonight's episode concluded with Rick and the gang returning from Oceanside to find Rosita alive and well. When they questioned what happened with Sasha, Rosita didn't answer but she guided them to Alexandria's holding facility where they were greeted by Dwight.
Daryl was perturbed by Dwight's appearance and who could blame him? The blonde warrior was practically responsible for the hell he endured while a prisoner of Negan. However, Dwight promised that he had come in peace — he wants to help the Alexandrians in taking out Negan. Rick took advantage of the opportunity and let his inner Negan out by asking Dwight to get on his knees. It was a great conclusion — we never saw that coming, that's for sure!
Whether you loved or hated #TheWalkingDeadSeason7 there's no denying that the writers have done a great job of building suspense. With only one episode left, the war is coming and there's no doubt that there will be several casualties. Let's just hope Rick and the gang can take the fight to Negan and ensure the group's survival because after all of the death in Season 7, there's not much more heartache that viewers can take.
