Since Rick, Carol and Daryl got so badass that nobody in their right mind would mess with them, nobody has — or at least, they haven't lived to tell about it.

This is why Negan is so freaking terrifying. He crushed our favorite no-shit-takin' heroes into submission, killed one of them with a wire-wrapped bat, and made us wait to find out who. If you've been hoping for a less painful kill in the shape of a secondary character, Negan actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan has a message for you: don't count on it.

JDM told Digital Spy that Negan ain't here to fuck around:

"You need to be very careful about what you wish for because you are going to get it and more this year. It's emotional. It's hard. It's hyper-violent. It's a lot to take. When the audience sees it, they will know exactly what 'a lot' means. The way Negan inflicts damage is so original to Negan, that whenever he comes on screen you will not know what to expect. You won't be able to see Negan without thinking of the premiere episode. What he does is so strong and so shocking."

Is Negan gonna kill one of the 'inner circle' — i.e. Rick, Glenn, Maggie, Daryl or Michonne?

OK, Mr. Morgan, color me worried. Still, we were promised Harder, Worse, Harsher, Stronger in Season 6, but our favorites all made it out alive. Is AMC still courting viewer favor with big words but keeping our TWD faves intact, or are these threats for real this time around?

The theories for who bit the bat are all compelling in their own ways. Did Negan kill...

... or someone else entirely? Sound off in the comments below!
