The long-awaited eighth installment of the franchise is set to drop at the end of October, and fans are finally starting to receive more information about the movie. In addition to several new TV spots and posters in recent weeks, there's now the first official clip from . It's short and terrifying, but it also hints at a game that viewers have seen before.

There was a decent amount of appreciation from longtime fans when the first official trailer for hit due to the fact that it referenced a lot of things from previous Saw movies. The overall tone and plot direction sounded super familiar, but fans also started pointing out some similarities. I remember personally saying that the main trap being shown looked a lot like a new spin of the "Fatal Five" trap from Saw V.

From the looks of this clip, it seems like there is indeed some rehashing of previous games going on. Check it out via IGN:

If you don't recall, the "Fatal Five" began the main game in Saw V with five individuals who were supposed to work together to survive. The opening trap for the game involved each player being chained by the neck, taking turns retrieving the key to their lock. If they didn't get free, they would be pulled back and decapitated by razor blades.

Obviously the traps aren't completely identical, but aside from the overall mechanics, it seems as though this is yet another group game that we'll be seeing. This also isn't the only trap that nods to the previous seven films. We've also seen flashes of the original "Reverse Bear Trap" game from the first Saw film, as well as something involving exploding cars like in Saw 3D: The Final Chapter.

Whether the traps in Jigsaw are just updated plays on traps we've seen in the past or not, audiences are no doubt in store for some fun that we haven't had since 2010. The film is directed by Peter and Michael Spierig and stars Tobin Bell, Mandela Van Peebles, Laura Vandervoort, Brittany Allen, Callum Keith Rennie, Matt Passmore, Hannah Emily Anderson, Josiah Black, Shaquan Lewis, Michael Bolsvert, and James Gomez.

Catch Jigsaw in theaters on October 27th!
