Jim Carrey is well-known for his bizarre sense of humor and the 55-year-old actor chose to take it to a whole new level this weekend by deciding to attend an event he clearly didn't give AF about and then attempting to make everyone else feel stupid for being there. .

After being accosted by an admittedly over enthusiastic E! News red carpet personality, made it clear that he didn't have any time for this frivolous shit, you know, apart from taking the time attend New York fashion week dressed up to the nines.

Channeling his deep inner teenage goth, Carrey told the reporter (named Catt Sadler) that the only reason he had deigned to grace the event with his presence was "to find the most meaningless thing he could come to."

Luckily, the intrepid reporter grabs the bull by the horns and tries to manage the situation while only discharging the minimal amount of "why is this happening?!" side-eye while doing it. After explaining to Carrey that the event was meant to be about icons, the star curtly replied:

“Celebrating icons, boy that’s just the lowest-aiming possibility we could come up with. It’s like, ‘icons.’ Do you believe in icons? I believe in personalities. I don’t believe that you exist."

Jim continues on to explain that he doesn't believe in icons and personalities, instead, he is much more into the idea of people being fields of energy, dancing to the beat of their own drum:

“...beyond personality, beyond invention and disguise. Beyond the red “S” on your chest that makes bullets bounce off. I believe it’s deeper than that. I believe we’re a field of energy dancing for itself and uh, I don’t care."

As Carrey continued, the reporter manage to make a snappy comeback to the star's supposedly apathy about the event:

“But Jim, you got really dressed up for the occasion. You look good.”

Of course, Carrey went full Jean Paul Sartre on her ass and clapped back with an existential classic:

“I didn’t get dressed up, there is no me.”

You can watch the whole nihilistic exchange for yourself in the video below. Prepare for a deep, deep cringe:

Is Jim Carrey okay? Discuss.
