The votes have been tallied, the awards handed out, and the last of the champagne drunk. Yes, the 2017 #GoldenGlobes are over, but the memories will live on forever— including Jimmy Fallon's unforgettable performance as host.
The pressure was on for the first-time host, and the reviews have been mixed. There were technical difficulties, penis jokes and Trump references aplenty. So how'd he do? Let's take a look at Jimmy Fallon's most memorable moments hosting the 74th Golden Globe Awards:
8. Trademark Musical Stylings
In classic Fallon style, the comedian opened the night with a very involved musical number. The single-take cold intro, which was inspired by multiple award-winner of the night La La Land, involved Fallon singing and dancing alongside Nicole Kidman— who awkwardly revealed in 2015 that Fallon had once blown his chance to date the young starlet.
Unfortunately, Fallon's vocal abilities fell a little flat, and not even a reference to his too-tight Spanx was enough to redeem his performance.
7. Minty Fresh
Fallon's tone-deaf vocal abilities weren't the only thing that were hard to stomach. Ryan Reynolds made a quick cameo, spitting a breath mint right into the host's mouth before sliding away again. That's an image that's definitely going to be hard to forget.
6. Justin Timberlake
Never one to be shy about his bromance with BFF Justin Timberlake, Fallon took it to the next level with a rather sensual dance number.
5. A Very Awkward Intro
His dancing skills may have gone off without a hitch, but trouble had just begun for Fallon on stage. The teleprompter picked the worst possible moment to kick the bucket, leaving Fallon floundering. After pleading for an encouraging wink from Justin Timberlake, he attempted to turn the attention onto Ryan Gosling — "we have Ryan Gosling... there he is. Right there" — followed by a penis pun about Gosling's role as a pianist in La La Land.
He also delivered a somewhat unique impression of former Golden Globes host Chris Rock, and stated that Matt Damon's greatest acting role was "telling Ben Affleck that he liked Batman v Superman". Boom, roasted! He quickly back-pedalled after a disapproving reaction from the audience, claiming, "I liked it!". Oh dear.
But the real talking point of the night was Fallon's many Donald Trump jokes. He claimed that the Golden Globes were "one of the few places left where America still honors the popular vote"; suggested that Putin may have hacked the votes; And even made comparisons between Trump and notorious Game of Thrones villain King Joffrey.
Sadly, his scathing remarks weren't enough to make anyone forget about his hair-ruffling history with Trump, with many calling him out for his attempt to redeem himself after his lighthearted Tonight Show interview with the controversial figure:
4. That Mariah Carey Reference
Fallon and Mimi may share some fond musical memories together, but that doesn't exempt her from being the butt of the joke. Fallon made a rather tasteless quip about Mariah Carey's New Years Eve blunder, blaming the faulty teleprompter from earlier in the night on Dick Clark Productions:
"I just got off the phone with Mariah Carey, and she thinks that Dick Clark Productions sabotaged my monologue. And it's... we have to talk, we have to discuss."
3. Tongue Twister
Michael Keaton certainly had the most unique introduction of the night with Fallon's imaginative rhyme. Try and say that one three times fast!
2. Cypress Hill Tribute
Being a massive hip-hop fan, Fallon couldn't resist the temptation to bust out his creative flair and seize the opportunity to drop a Cypress Hill reference whilst introducing presenters Jessica Chastain and Eddie Redymayne.
1. Photo-Bombing Sofia Vargera
Sorry Sofia, but Jimmy's decided that he had just a little bit more sparkle than that dress.
