Horror maestro has admitted that he wants to direct a movie adaptation of EA's space-based fright-fest game Dead Space. Speaking to Game Informer, the director of Halloween revealed:

You know it's great. The first game was more - I guess it was like Alien - but not quite. It was a little different than that. I maintain that Dead Space would just make a great movie because you have these people coming onto an abandoned, shut-down space ship and they have to start it up and something's on board. It's just great stuff. I would love to make Dead Space [into a film], I'll tell you that right now. That one is ready-made.

Having spent many a long and lonely night playing Dead Space and scaring myself s**t-less, I completely agree with Carpenter that it would make for a great movie. The first game is a sort of mash-up between Carpenter's own movie The Thing and 's Event Horizon, and although he hasn't directed anything of any note for a while, Carpenter has proven in the past with The Thing and Escape from New York that he's excellent at making good sci-fi horror/thrillers.

Would Carpenter be a good choice to direct a Dead Space movie? Let me know what you think in the comment section below.
