Now, if there's one subject that it's probably wise for a mainstream movie website to avoid during this most divisive of election cycles, it's politics. With as momentous a decision as November's election is set to offer, the opinions of movie journalists aren't likely to be of much use in helping anyone to make their decision. Unless, of course, you vote entirely on the basis of what famous movie characters would do. Which would be slightly worrying, so maybe don't do that.
Of course, all of that being said, there are still some pieces of political news that it would be irresponsible for us not to bring you. Like, for instance, the fact that:
Joss Whedon And The Avengers Just Teamed Up Against Donald Trump
Y'see, that above video is the product of Joss Whedon's new Super PAC (an independent political action committee, free to raise unlimited funds for a political candidate or party, but not to coordinate with them directly), Save the Day, and...well, Whedon and pals are not fans of Donald Trump. So much so, in fact, that Don "War Machine" Cheadle refers to him as "a racist, abusive coward who could permanently damage the fabric of our society." With fellow Avengers Robert "Iron Man" Downey Jr., Scarlett "Black Widow" Johansson, Cobie "Maria Hill" Smulders and Mark "The Hulk" Ruffalo (as well as a host of other famous faces) also joining the fray, it's increasingly clear that a large number of Earth's Mightiest Heroes — and actors in general — are really, really not on board with a Trump presidency.
With that being said, though, Save the Day's main aim is to get you to actually go out and vote come November. Though, as The West Wing's President Bartlett himself, Martin Sheen points out, the folks in the video would really, really prefer it if you didn't vote for the dude with the tiny hands and loose grasp of what the truth is, noting that "we cannot pretend that both sides are equally unfavorable." In other words? You now know how The Avengers, Captain Mal Reynolds, President Bartlett and STANLEY GODDAMNED TUCCI would like you to vote in the presidential election. Do with that what you will.
Though, it should be mentioned that (according to that video at least) Mark Ruffalo will 100 percent do a nude scene and, to quote RDJ, "have his dick out" if you vote against Trump in November. So there's that. Thor: Ragnarok could be about to get even weirder than we thought...
If you'd like some help registering to vote, Save The Day will get that sorted for you right here, and if you'd like some help imagining the context in which Mark Ruffalo's penis could appear in 2017, check out our continued coverage of Thor: Ragnarok. Or, y'know, just close your eyes and picture it.
Meanwhile, let us know what you think down below! Preferably in, y'know, a nice, friendly, open-to-debate sort of way.
