Do you remember when Marvel movies were just little self-contained universes that pretty much kept their respective superheroes to themselves? Well, that all went out the window with the arrival of 'Phase 1' of Marvel's world-dominating Cinematic Universe plan. Now we expect our Marvel superheroes to hang out, fight together and all go for shawarma afterwards. However, it seems that 's Guardians of the Galaxy will not be joining in the collective superhero fun.

Ever since Guardians was announced last year, there have been consistent rumors the inter-galactic heroes will tie-in with our Earth-based costumed saviors. With Guardians opening in 2014, and The Avengers: Age Of Ultron arriving in 2015 (officially ending Phase 2), some expected Marvel's upcoming superhero ensemble to include the space-faring freedom fighters.

Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your perspective), has arrived to suggest The Avengers 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy will not be intermingling. He told Bleeding Cool:

We're following Guardians at Shepperton [Studios, with Avengers 2] but we won't be swapping cast members. Every movie is its own thing and has to be. Unless I take a lot of peyote and write a very different draft... and I'm not ruling that out.

It seems any addition to the The Avengers 2 cast will be drawn from currently unused Marvel characters. All we really know so far is that Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver will most likely be joining the action. Of course, this is only referring to The Avengers 2, who knows what Phase 3 holds?

What do you think? Did you really want to see the Guardians in The Avengers 2, or are you glad they probably won't be involved? Of course, if you really want them to join in the fun, you should probably start sending Whedon copious amounts of peyote.
