Justin Bieber doesn't have the best track record when it comes to looking after animals — not only has he previously offloadeded his pet hamster Pac onto a shrieking fan because he didn't give a shit, but he's also had his pet capuchin monkey Mally confiscated by German custom officials. Fast forward to 2017 and it's being reported that the Purpose star has abandoned another innocent creature to go and bleach his hair again or something.

Last year, Biebs introduced us to the cutest fluff ball ever in the shape of a Chow Chow puppy named Todd. And after ooh-ing and aah-ing over the little guy for a couple of months, it appears that Justin has lost interest.

Apparently, the singer dumped 7-month-old Todd onto his dancer CJ Salvador because he couldn't take care of him anymore. His new carer then happened to discover that the pup needed to get an $8,000 surgery to treat his severe hip dysplasia – a doggy condition that means that the joints rub and grind where they shouldn't. Ultimately, if T-dawg doesn't get this treated, he will not be able to walk by the time he is 1-years-old.

Naturally, Salvador was shocked to discover that Todd had such an expensive defect but the new pet owner made it his mission to save the puppy by raising the $8k needed for the surgery. Setting up a GoFundMe page, he asked his followers to donate instead of getting him a birthday present this year.

Thankfully, fans of Todd the Stud happily obliged and within 22 hours, CJ had well over the funds needed. Although admittedly, this was largely due to the fact that Hollywood oracle-of-wisdom Jayden Smith contributed a hefty $6,000. And as for Justin — well, I guess he just didn't bother.

But before we slam Bieber once again for being wildly irresponsible, CJ was surprisingly quick to come to the singer's defense. Salvador insisted that Justin didn't help out, not because he was a crap human being, but because he wasn't actually aware of Todd's ailments in the first place. He also claimed that he didn't want to bother him because he was no longer the doggy's legal dad.

So there you go, make of that what you will.

Do you think Justin Bieber should be banned from keeping animals forever?
