When departed The Fast & The Furious franchise, we couldn't help but wonder what he would do next. After all, this was the guy that turned a neo-gearhead joke into one of the most successful film franchises in recent memory. Well, as it turns out, he's priming to leap aboard another series. According to Deadline, Lin has been selected to direct the sequel to The Bourne Legacy. The new film will once again follow Aaron Cross (again to be played by ). (Invictus, Sherlock Holmes) will pen the script and it is said that Universal is aiming for a summer 2015 release.
It's difficult for me to get excited about this piece of news. It's not that I have reservations about Lin necessarily, it's just that I found myself wholly incapable of enjoying The Bourne Legacy. It was so paint-by-numbers and stale. My hope is that Lin is able to bring more to the new Bourne film than simply epic car chases; that maybe he can reinvigorate this franchise as he did The Fast and the Furious.
What do you guys think?
