Kate Winslet is a true English rose and an absolutely wonderful actress, but did you know she can also predict the future? The Holiday star made an Oscars forecast, so titanic we're surprised we missed it until now.
It was during Ricky Gervais's TV series Extras that Winslet had her unlikely vision of what would come to pass four years later. Flashback to 2005 when Kate was playing herself, playing a nun in a fictional Holocaust movie and spouting the following foul mouthed wisdom:
"I don't think we need another film about the Holocaust, do we? It's like, how many have there been? We get it. It was grim. Move on. No, I'm doing it because I've noticed that if you do a film about the Holocaust, [you're] guaranteed an Oscar. I've been nominated four times—never won. The whole world is going, 'Why hasn't Winslet won one?' That's it. That's why I'm doing it. Schindler's bloody List. The Pianist. Oscars coming out of their arse!"
Watch the hilarious and wildly inappropriate scene again as Kate tells Gervais all about her masterplan to guarantee her a golden statuette below:
Kate of course went to win the Oscar for Best Actress 2009 for her role in The Reader, a movie that has the Holocaust and Nazi war crimes running through the very heart of it. This means that four years prior to Winslet's win, she herself had said that a Holocaust movie would be the film she nabbed the coveted statue for. Spooky. The Oscar win was justly deserved after so many prior nominations. The English actress has also mentioned that she didn't realize that Extras would indeed predict her Oscar win, but she enjoyed being part of the show very much:
