Like many broken-hearted souls before her, Katy Perry decided that a drastic hairstyle change was in order following her recent split from actor Orlando Bloom. Sporting a peroxide blonde pixie cut with shaved sides, the star took to Instagram to showcase her new locks, and in the process, once again proved that she's a free spirit that refuses to be chained to any particular shade or style:
However, while many might think that this is Katy's way of dealing with painful heartbreak, you better get ready to stand corrected. According to the 32-year-old singer, the pop queen's inspiration behind her new, shorter lid is actually "Wrecking Ball" wild child Miley Cyrus.

Speaking to radio host Elvis Duran at the iHeartRadio Music Awards in California, Katy gave her reasons for the drastic transformation and for dropping her long-term dark hair and big lashes combo, saying:
"I always wanted to look like Miley Cyrus! I want to redefine what it means to be feminine. Look at Scarlett Johansson, who’s one of the most beautiful women in the world. We have the same haircut and I saw her at an Oscars party and I was like, “I’m doing it.'"
Then, addressing the common criticism that pixie crops on girls aren't feminine enough, she added:
"You can be hot and look great with this kind of hair. Why not? I think my feminine is inside of me. If a guy is like, 'Oh, she’s got a weird haircut. I don’t want to date her,' I’m not even interested in talking to them because you’re so one-dimensional about life."
Ultimately, it seems that despite bidding a fine farewell to the man in her life, the "Chained to the Rhythm" hitmaker is having the time of her life. Claiming that she feels that more confident in her own skin now than even before, she reassured fans:
"I’m 32 now and I feel great. I'm really accepting of myself and I’ve done a little work in that area and it’s really paying off because I’m having fun and feeling free. I feel the most authentic I’ve ever been."
