If you thought that Marvel isn't quite treating its green giant right then don't fret, folks, the Hulk will be a big part of Marvel in the near future. With set to start a three movie Hulk arc in the , fans are beyond excited to see more of Mark Ruffalo's green superhero and what his role will be in the coming films.

Of course, many fans are still hopeful that we will get to see a standalone Hulk movie. And so Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige's recent comments will perhaps give them some comfort.

The Future Is Green

The rights to a standalone Hulk film are owned by Universal, so if Disney's Marvel Studios want to feature the character in a solo adventure, they'll have to buy the character back from Universal. Many fans are hoping for something like the Sony Spider-Man deal, which saw Sony's Spider-man: Homecoming set in the same universe as Disney's MCU.

Unfortunately, as Feige told ComicBookMovie, Universal isn't as eager to play ball:

"I think that back and forth [between Disney and Universal] continues, and I don’t know if it will ever happen. But I will tell you, it makes me very, very happy going from a world, ten years ago, when people were questioning the viability of Hulk in a standalone film, to getting asked every other interview, ‘When will there be another standalone Hulk?'"

While this isn't the confirmation for a standalone Hulk movie we were hoping for, Feige's comments do indicate that in the near future this may be possible.

In the meantime, the Hulk is said to have a big three-movie-arc starting from Taika Waititi’s Ragnarok. Recently, Mark Ruffalo revealed how this Hulk arc came into fruition, telling CinemaBlend:

"So basically, Kevin [Feige] pulled me aside before this, and said, 'If you were gonna do a... if we were going to do a standalone Hulk movie, what would it be?' And I said, 'I think it should be this, this, this, and this and this, and ends up like this.' And he's like, 'I love that. Why don't we do that in the next three movies, starting with Thor 3 and then we go into Avengers 3 and 4.' And I was like, 'That sounds great!' And so we are at the beginning of this arc."

With the Hulk playing such a big role in the upcoming films Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4, it's understandable for fans to demand a standalone movie for . Let's just hope that if this does happen, the standalone follows the MCU's tradition of being true to the source material to give Marvel fans something to be proud of.
