The BBC, after announcing the next actor to embody the Good Doctor (none other than ), has finally disclosed who will direct the first two episodes of the upcoming season 8: , the helmer of Kill List and Sightseers.

Mr. Wheatley, of course, is delighted:

I am very excited and honored to be asked to direct the first two episodes of the new series of 'Doctor Who.' I’ve been a fan since childhood (Tom Baker is my Doctor if you are asking). I've been watching the current run of 'Doctor' who with my son and have discovered it all over again. The work that has been done is amazing. I'm really looking forward to working with Peter Capaldi and finding out where Steven Moffat is planning to take the new Doctor.

Wheatley, after his run on Doctor Who, will go on to adapt High Rise, a novel by about class warfare in a luxury high-rise building. He is also developing a monster movie titled Freakshift.

The new season of Doctor Who will air in the fall of next year. Production of the episodes is scheduled to start shortly this fall.
