The seventh season of Game of Thrones sailed every single one of our ships with the setup of a romance between the King in the North, Jon Snow, and his aunt (yep), the Mother of Dragons, Daenerys Targaryen. There have been a lot of powerful pairings in Westeros, but Jon and Dany's potential incestuous future has captivated the minds of audiences. Incest be damned; we're here for this.

In fact, the excitement to see them together goes all the way back to Season 1. Fans spent an impressive amount time looking for obscure clues in both the books and show that could be pointing to a future romance between them. Interestingly enough, however, their relationship was foreshadowed by the actors themselves five years ago, and almost nobody noticed.

Jon And Dany Have A Long History

Back in 2012, , , , and took part in a Rolling Stone photoshoot prior to the release of Game of Thrones' second season. As Refinery29 pointed out last year, photographer Peggy Sirota unearthed a rare picture from that day, which featured Harington and Clarke embracing for a passionate kiss:

In the caption, the photographer explained the situation, revealing that she asked Harington and Clarke to kiss, and they gladly complied:

"This moment was unforgettable. It was a small crew on that day, just a few of us out in the field. The chemistry between these four was huge, as you can see... I asked them to kiss, I suppose love was in the air, & I was just lucky enough to be there. PS."

What motivated Sirota to ask for such a passionate display of love between the two actors is a mystery, but that's got to be one of the best instances of two actors foreshadowing the path their characters would take ever. Who knows? Perhaps Sirota is the actual three-eyed raven, as opposed to Bran.

Will Dany And Jon Actually Get Together?

Given this newly-surfaced and inadvertent tease, you're probably wondering whether we'll actually see the characters take the next level in their peculiar pairing. Well, it certainly looks like it.

During an interview with Deadline, director Alan Taylor revealed that from the very beginning made it clear to the cast and crew that Daenerys and Jon were the show's endgame:

"He alluded to the fact that Jon and Dany were the point, kind of. That, at the time, there was a huge, vast array of characters, and Jon was a lowly, you know, bastard son. So it wasn’t clear to us at the time, but he did sort of say things that made it clear that the meeting and the convergence of Jon and Dany were sort of the point of the series."

It's been speculated that perhaps the pair will back off of each other once they learn about their close family ties. For a while, I was sure that would happen. But then I remembered that Dany's family comes from a long line of incest, so there's a risk that they just won't care and carry on with their love as if there weren't something inherently stomach churning about it—especially because, as Dany pointed out to Jon last episode, that she can't bear children.

We'll be able to know what will happen between these two love birds when the Season 7 finale arrives on August 27.

What do you think about the five-year-old picture that foreshadowed Jon and Daenerys' love? Let me know in the comments!
