It turns out that Kristen Stewart's new horror movie venture is pretty interesting. Here are 6 cool facts about Personal Shopper.
1. Double Trouble
Personal Shopper is director Olivier Assayas's second movie in a row starring Kristen Stewart. He directed her alongside Juliette Binoche in the Cesar-winning Clouds of Sils Maria. Kristen's Personal Shopper co-stars Lars Eidinger, Nora von Waldstätten and Benoit Peverelli, who were also in Clouds of Sils Maria, so Assayas clearly likes to stick with what works!
2. Highs and Lows
Cannes saw a highly unusual reaction to Personal Shopper. The movie was booed at the start, then reversed the audience's reaction and ended with a standing ovation.
3. Tragedy in Paris
A great portion of Personal Shopper was filmed in Paris, before relocating to Prague to film only two days before the terrorist attacks in Paris in 2015. Many cast and crew received panicked calls from friends and family checking on their safety after hearing about the horrible events.
4. Unofficial Sequel?
Personal Shopper has been described by director Olivier Assayas as a "companion piece" to his 2014 Clouds of Sils Maria. The similarity is remarkable — both movies see Kristen Stewart play the role of a woman skirting wealth and fame.
5. Kristen Stewart Loves Personal Shopper
"I don't mean to sound so dramatic or actor-y, like, 'It almost broke me,' but genuinely I [now feel I] can do anything. This movie made me feel like there is nothing I can't put myself through. I never felt so good for feeling so bad."
6. Award-Winning Achievements
After the surprise standing ovation for Personal Shopper at Cannes, the prestigious film festival awarded director Olivier Assayas the Best Director awards from the Official Competition jury.
