's upcoming sex thriller Nymphomaniac: Volume I is an epic: it will be spread out in two parts lasting a rumored five hours, will be cut in both a softcore and hardcore edit, and is reportedly going to become a television show.

Now, after causing some drama (get it?) at Cannes 2011, von Trier might be back in a big way. The film's hardcore version will premiere at the film festivals in 2014, after it hits theaters in a more PG-18 way in Denmark and Norway for December. For this reason, the film won't likely be in competition, but we'll just have to wait until next Spring to find out.
