It's been four years since the death of Glee star Cory Monteith, who tragically passed away on July 13th, 2013. However, the world hasn't forgotten the young actor, and many of his fans took to social media to commemorate the anniversary of his passing, posting remembrance messages. In fact, the devoted Gleeks even managed to get #fouryearswithoutcory trending worldwide on Twitter. That's what we call a fitting tribute.
It wasn't just the fans who remembered the talented young singer. Monteith's former co-star and girlfriend Lea Michele posted an emotional tribute of her own on Twitter, captioning the post with "love you more." Check it out below:
In the message, Michele can be seen holding a photo of herself with her late boyfriend. #Glee fans will also recognize that Michele is wearing the iconic Letterman jacket which Monteith's character Finn wore on numerous occasions on the musical series. In addition to Michele's tweet, fellow Glee actor Damian McGinty posted a moving message on Twitter, remembering his co-star.
Monteith started his career with brief non-speaking roles in shows such as Supernatural and Smallville, but the actor shot to fame when he landed the leading man role of Finn Hudson in Ryan Murphy's smash hit musical comedy series, Glee. The young actor won the hearts of viewers with his unique vocal talents, and featured in many of the show's biggest moments, including the iconic "Don't Stop Believin'" scene from the very first episode.
After Monteith's death from heroin and alcohol, the Glee writers understandably wrote the Finn character out of the show — but, although he could no longer be present, Finn's (and Monteith's) memory played a huge part in the series until the very end.
Michele's touching message, along with the messages from the fans, are further proof that even though Monteith is no longer with us, what he accomplished will never be forgotten.
