Leatherface's chainsaw has barely cooled down, but he's already due to return with another Texas Chainsaw movie. The modern 'sequel' to the 1974 original has surpassed most expectations at the box office, knocking The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies off the top spot after only three weeks. Texas Chainsaw 3D managed to rack in an impressive $23 million, immediately covering its $20 million production budget.
It's no wonder the bigwigs over at Liongate are keen to unleash Leatherface again. In fact, according to Bloody Disgusting, the studio has acquired the rights to make seven Texas Chainsaw installments (including Texas Chainsaw 3D). If you ask me, this is a classic case of movie executives getting a bit ahead of themselves. I mean, seven! That's kind of ridiculous.
Leatherface will also be joined by lead actress , who is also down to return. Daddario told Shock Till You Drop:
"I was really excited to be a part of the franchise and I'm grateful and be happy to do another one, it'd be great. I know I'd like to make it something new and different. One of the things I like about [Texas Chainsaw] is it deviates from what people expect it to be."
At the moment information about the story is scarce, although it is claimed it will also follow on from the original classic. If you want to be kept updated with the latest information about the upcoming sequel, make sure to hit [[follow]].
