The second season of saw our favorite time-traveling defeat the Legion Of Doom and save each other from Doomworld with the Spear of Destiny. However, their interactions with their past selves caused a time quake so major that they ended up breaking time itself.

The results saw them crash-land in 2017, only to see the streets of Los Angeles overrun with T-Rexes. While it certainly left us with many questions, it was also quite exciting to think about the endless possibilities for Season 3.

And now, The CW has shed a little more light on what we can expect from the upcoming season by releasing a new synopsis about the Legends' next adventure. Check it out below:

After the defeat of Eobard Thawne and his equally nefarious Legion of Doom, the Legends face a new threat created by their actions at the end of last season. In revisiting a moment in time that they had already participated in, they have essentially fractured the timeline and created anachronisms – a scattering of people, animals, and objects all across time! Our team must find a way to return all the anachronisms to their original timelines before the time stream falls apart.

But before our Legends can jump back into action, Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) and his newly established Time Bureau call their methods into question. With the Time Bureau effectively the new sheriffs in town, the Legends disband – until Mick Rory (Dominic Purcell) discovers one of them in the middle of his well-deserved vacation in Aruba. Seeing this as an opportunity to continue their time traveling heroics, Sara (Caity Lotz) wastes no time in getting the Legends back together. We reunite with billionaire inventor Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), the unconventional historian-turned-superhero Nate Heywood (Nick Zano), and Professor Martin Stein (Victor Garber) and Jefferson “Jax” Jackson (Franz Drameh), who together form the meta-human Firestorm.

Once reunited, the Legends will challenge the Time Bureau’s authority over the timeline and insist that however messy their methods may be, some problems are beyond the Bureau’s capabilities. Some problems can only be fixed by Legends.

Will The Time Bureau Be Season 3's Big Bad?

Judging by the synopsis, it seems like Rip Hunter's new Time Bureau will be quite the thorn in the Legends' side. Being the new sheriffs in town will certainly rattle a lot of cages, and it leaves us wondering whether they could end up being this season's Big Bad. With the show being led by an ensemble group of superheroes, it always ensures that they have an ensemble group of villains to take down — much like last year's Legion of Doom.

Moreover, Season 1's main villain may have been the immortal tyrant Vandal Savage, but it was eventually revealed that the Time Masters were ultimately behind his reign of terror, pulling the strings as they controlled everyone's fate. Could we see a similar situation here with the Time Bureau?

The only issue with that would be the fact that Rip Hunter is the Legends' former captain and teammate, who we already saw in a villainous role last year when he was brainwashed by the Legion. Thus, it's unlikely that he would go rogue again. But despite being a great captain, Rip has always been quick to judge his former team, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that he questions their methods. But if the Bureau does declare war with the Legends, who will Hunter stand with?

With a brand new season of time-traveling adventures yet to come, it's possible that the Legends may have just discovered who their new archenemies are. But when Sara manages to unite the team one more time, will they be able to convince the Time Bureau that they know what they're doing, or will the new faction become the season's ultimate threat?
