Back in 2014, I saw a collision of two worlds I loved dearly: movies and Lego. Hence, The Lego Movie was born. I must admit, when I first heard about the project back in 2012, I was quite skeptical. But after a fantastic trailer, they completely sold me on the movie. It's definitely one of the best animations of the last 10 years, and it's crazy how it didn't even get an Oscar nomination back in 2015!
Since that colossal hit, Lego have brought their latest project to the big screens: The LEGO Batman Movie. Thankfully, this vibrant, exhilarating adventure opened to fantastic reviews from fans and critics alike — which opens up more avenues for the Lego franchise. A stellar teaser for the The Lego Ninjago Movie has already been released, and with the indisputable success of The Lego Batman Movie will surely lead to more Lego movie spin-offs down the line.
One of the greatest aspects of The Lego Movie is the absolutely stellar cast. From the silly comedy of Chris Pratt's Emmet to the bad-ass hilarity of Batman, every character is hilarious in their own right. So, here are five such hilarious Lego characters who deserve their own Lego movie spin-off.
1. Good Cop / Bad Cop
Liam Neeson's role as Good Cop/Bad Cop was one of the most hilarious surprises of The Lego Movie, showing us a fantastic side to Liam Neeson we'd never seen before. His seamless transitions from good to bad (and back again) provide some of the funniest scenes of the movie. My favorite aspect of Good Cop/Bad Cop is his constant need to just kick any random chair that's near him. As much as I'd love to see a spin-off with Good Cop/Bad Cop, I think it's quite unlikely. On the plus side, though, I'm sure he'll definitely be in The Lego Movie sequels.
There's no denying that Benny was one of the stand-out characters from The Lego Movie. His constant urge to build a spaceship was absolutely hilarious to watch. Charlie Day played this role exceptionally, and I can't imagine anybody else in the world doing this character justice. I'm so down to see a movie starring Benny, whether it be a #prequel with him as an astronaut, or a follow up to The Lego Movie.
3. Lego Justice League Movie
Now, I know what some of you are thinking: "Isn't there already a Lego Justice League movie?" The answer is yes and no. #Lego and Warner Brothers have quite often made low-budget Lego movies aimed at kids, which they release straight to DVD or streaming service. They've done this with numerous properties, but they aren't canon, as in they're not connected to the theater movies that are getting released (like the #Batman above is not the one we see in The Lego Batman Movie). So my proposal is that they release a fully fleshed-out movie about the Justice League. I think we can agree The LEGO Batman Movie is better than Batman v Superman, so could the Lego Justice League Movie beat the live-action version too?

4. Captain Metalbeard
Captain Metalbeard is another one of the stand-out stars from The Lego Movie, and I'd love to see him get his own stand-alone movie in the future. He was played brilliantly by perfectly cast Nick Offerman (Parks & Recreation, 22 Jump Street). I'd love to see a movie showcasing his ocean travels, and maybe even get a Pirates of The Caribbean crossover?
5. The Cast of Star Wars
One cameo that I adored in The Lego Movie was when Lando and Han Solo turned up to help the gang. Since seeing this scene, I've yearned to see them get their own spin off. Over the years, Lego has made some fantastic #StarWars games, including games based of the original movies, the prequels and The Force Awakens. I think it's time to move on to the big screen, by making one of the many anthology movies #Disney keeps talking about. It might seem childish and might drive away some Star Wars fans, but in a world where Power Rangers is getting a gritty movie adaptation, anything is possible!
Next up on our list is one of the most likely options: Wyldstyle. She was one of The Lego Movie's most mysterious characters, which leaves the door open to many cool stories from her past. We could see her various espionage missions, the beginnings of her relationship with Batman, or how she got the "DJ" name, Wyldstyle!
I'm not exactly picky about what Lego movies they make because I'd take literally any of them. In saying that, the one I'd like to see the most would be the Benny movie with Charlie Day, which I think we can all agree would be absolutely hilarious!
