Horror super producer has signed on to co-produce Crawlspace with Rick Alvarez, and Hollywood Reporter notes the pair have snagged Brit director to take the helm.

Claydon is best known for the deeply embarrassing Brit flop Lesbian Vampire Killers, once described by its star actor as 'a pile of sh*t.' However, Claydon was not responsible for the script, so he can't be blamed for turning a potential campy B-movie treat into the aformentioned pile.

The Crawlspace script was penned for New Line by , and follows a family getting seriously spooked by weird stuff going on in their new home. So far, so familiar, but word is that Crawlspace will take a new angle on the tried-and-tested Amityville storyline.

It's hardly surprising that similar projects to The Conjuring are getting the go-ahead. James Wan's supernatural horror was so stupendously lucrative - $316 million return for a $20 million budget - that it's getting it's own sequel and spinoff (centred on the creepy Annabelle doll).
