A Monster Calls, director J.A. Bayona’s film based on the heartbreaking book of the same name by Patrick Ness, arrives in select theaters across the US this week atop a wave of positive reviews and early international box office success.

Strong performances from a stellar cast which includes Sigourney Weaver, Felicity Jones, and Liam Neeson as the voice of the Monster — as well as capturing the spirit of the original book — are a few of the reasons why the film is receiving a warm welcome.

Now, Focus Features has combined those two great elements of the movie with a new promotional video of Neeson reading the first chapter of A Monster Calls, and it may be one of the coolest pieces of marketing for a book-to-movie tie-in the internet has ever seen. Check it out below.

Is it too much to hope for Neeson reading the rest of the book to be includes as a special feature on the home video release?

A Monster Calls may have been snubbed by the Golden Globes, but with the film’s limited run beginning on December 23 before it enjoys a wider release on January 6, this means the film will be eligible for Oscars consideration come February.
