Lin-Manuel Miranda has been on a roll the last couple of years. He's lent his talent to #StarWarsTheForceAwakens as a composer and voice actor, the upcoming #Moana and the runaway Broadway hit #Hamilton. He's also about to start filming the highly-anticipated Mary Poppins Returns alongside Emily Blunt. Oh, and also, you know, just the President and First Lady introducing his musical at the #TonyAwards.
But thanks to a new bit of news he just dropped, we know his relationship with #Disney will keep growing.
Speaking to Vulture, Miranda revealed that he's working with Zootopia's #ByronHoward on a brand new animated movie:
"That's the fun thing about working with someone and having it go well — you go, 'Okay, what else can we do? [John] Lasseter took me aside and said, 'I have an idea: Here's Byron, and you guys should start talking.'"
#Animation is a very slow and, at times, tedious process, so it doesn't seem like we'll be seeing the project in theaters soon. As Miranda puts is:
"We literally haven't gotten in the room yet, but we're plotting."
He didn't reveal any more details. What has me intrigued is him asking, "What else can we do?" Recent animated movies, like #Zootopia and even Sausage Party have been tackling different subjects by giving their main characters' nature a spin, such as exploring animals living in a human-like society and food's feelings when eaten.
He's most likely referring to that so, will he take the same approach with this new animated adventure or will it closely resemble real-life people, like #InsideOut? Regardless of what it will tackle, considering #LinManuelMiranda is involved, it's safe to say we should all be confident in that it will be a fantastic product.
The good news is that, even though this new animated movie is still far, far away, the actor is working on Disney's live-action version of The Little Mermaid along with the aforementioned Mary Poppins Returns. It looks like Disney plans to keep him around for a long, long time:
