There's a million things Lin-Manuel Miranda hasn't done, of course, and one of them is playing a very specific #Marvel villain: Carnage. Yes, this is a unexpected departure from the Hamilton star's previous work, and it's probable that not even his colleagues could've seen this one coming. But #Miranda has proven himself to be one of the most influential people in not only the entertainment industry, but America as a whole.
His cultural phenomenon #Hamilton remains the hottest ticket on Broadway. As a creator, musician, and actor, the auteur is pretty much destined to get an EGOT, the term applied to artists with at least one Academy, Emmy, Grammy and Tony Award. And with Moana splashing its way into theaters Thanksgiving weekend, the new Hamilton Mixtape, and pre-production on Rob Marshall's Mary Poppins Returns starting soon, he'll have to start using the same cloning machine as The Rock to keep up with it all.

One Of Miranda's Goals Is To Play The Spider-Man Villain Carnage
Still, his stacked schedule doesn't mean he couldn't be available for a possible debut in a #SpiderMan sequel in the #MCU. Simon Thompson recently spoke about Miranda to Meet the Movie Press, discussing his interest in a potential project with Marvel.
"[Miranda] is a big fan of Marvel. And there is one particular character that he would actually like to play. It's Carnage. He said if Disney and Marvel were looking at doing a Maximum Carnage movie or bringing Carnage in [the MCU] as a character, he wants to be Carnage. Genuinely as a fan, he would love to play Carnage. That's a goal of his."
Here's why that dream role could become reality.
Miranda Is One Of The Most Talented People In The World
Miranda, whether you care for his production or not, brought something so unique and different to the table with Hamilton, it is impossible not to appreciate the man. His play quickly became an event, with everyone from Eminem to Mike Pence praising his masterpiece.
If he were to land the role of #Carnage, a.k.a. Cletus Kasady, it would bring some much needed diversity to the MCU's #villain department. Miranda has the talent and skill to make the character his own. It would be a mistake if Feige and his team passed this opportunity, so hopefully Marvel takes a liking to his pitch. Just you wait.
He's Already Disney Royalty
Ever since the musician was tapped to compose original melodies for Moana, #Disney has been constantly coming back for more, getting him to work on their Little Mermaid remake, which he will also be contributing new songs to. It's hard to follow up to these untouchable classics, so it says a lot to have Disney put Miranda at the helm of these fairy tales.
He was also offered the lead male role in Rob Marshall's Mary Poppins Returns, co-starring with Emily Blunt as the musical's titular character. In the past year, it has become clear that Disney absolutely adores the guy, and J.J. Abrams even got Miranda to write the cantina song in The Force Awakens. After showing off his talents in both Disney's animation and Lucasfilm departments, there's only one more place to go: Marvel.

Carnage Would Be A Demanding Challenge For An Actor
As an actor, Miranda has been accustomed to portraying more upbeat characters. Kasady/Carnage would be a gigantic change of pace for the performer, who has been and still is associated most commonly with musicals. In the #comics, Carnage is a very dark character, one whose heartlessness and pure evil is comparable to the Joker, with no morale or justification in place. Playing a psychopathic character takes a whole lot of skill, passion, and commitment. Miranda has all of those things, and he sounds very much like a real fan of the character, even citing his favorite story arc as a guideline.
Obviously, Marvel may have to tone down the character for a possible Homecoming sequel, but having Carnage instead of #Venom as Peter's antagonist does not sound half bad, especially since his appearance still leaves a sour taste in the mouths of fans. With Miranda's commitment, he can create an enemy with the potential to be truly terrifying. Hopefully Marvel will give Miranda a shot to do what he does best, proving people wrong.
I am a Marvel buff. I grew up reading those comic books. If they ever do a Maximum Carnage storyline I want dibs on Carnage.
