It feels as though Lindsay Lohan has spent the last decade getting as far away from her Disney darling days as possible. Despite bursting onto the scene in the early '90s via roles in Mouse House hits such as The Parent Trap, Freaky Friday and Herbie: Fully Loaded, the LiLo we know now is no longer associated with the butter-wouldn't-melt teen we met in these movies. But it would seem that she's looking to turn that around: She wants in on Disney's live-action action.

In a role that would certainly promise to give a little oomf to her long-stalled career, Lohan is gunning for the titular role in Disney's reboot of The Little Mermaid. On Saturday she posted a side-by-side pic of her next to the flipper'd-princess and captioned with a pitch that would seemingly bring all of her pals on board, too:

I will sing again, as @disney approve that directs it along with my sister @alianamusic singing the theme song for the soundtrack.

The caption has since changed, but here's the post:

Disney has not commented on the movie, nor Lohan's post, so it's safe to assume that this will never, ever happen. That said though, that shouldn't put Lindsay off following her dreams — I for one would 100% watch her star in a -esque spin off, perhaps with a sinister twist. I'm thinking Splash meets I Know Who Killed Me, wouldn't that be great?

Do you think Disney should cast Lindsay Lohan as Ariel?
