Magic mirror on the wall, which animated #Disney classic is getting the live-action treatment after all?
Today, Variety released an official report announcing that an updated version of the 1937 fairytale classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is in the works at Disney. In the same vein as #TheJungleBook, #SnowWhiteandtheSevenDwarfs will be a live-action film "which will expand upon the story and music from the animated classic."
According to Variety, screenwriter Erin Cressida Wilson (The Girl on the Train) us currently in talks to pen the script, while Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (La La Land) have signed on as composers and lyricists for the new musical numbers. While a director has yet to be announced for the project, Disney has tapped Marc Platt (Into the Woods) to produce.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is the latest in a long line of Disney movies to get a live-action retelling. Since 2014 we've seen the success of this process with Maleficent, Cinderella and, most recently, The Jungle Book, which shattered box office records after bringing in a whopping $966.3 million in April.
Disney's future live-action slate is also stacked with fan-favorites including Beauty and the Beast, Mulan, Mary Poppins Returns, Dumbo, Winnie the Pooh, Pinocchio, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King and Aladdin, along with a handful of other untitled projects.
There is currently no release date for the upcoming Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, but fans can get their live-action Disney fix with Beauty and the Beast, starring Emma Watson and Dan Stevens, in theaters March 17, 2017.
