The anticipation is at fever-pitch, and while some of you might rather claw your eyes out than see another TV spot for James Mangold's upcoming Logan, the latest one could be one of the most X-citing yet. In and amongst shots of looking old and Patrick Stewart looking older, it looks like the new addition of Dafne Keen as Laura Kinney, a.k.a. X-23, can insert some new blood into the film.

We have already seen Kinney dispatch a few of Boyd Holbrook's Reavers with her adamantium nail job, but now we finally get to see her infamous "foot claw" in action. It looks like there no place like "clone" as daddy and daughter take on the forces behind the Weapon X program.

The 14-second teaser, aptly named "Foot Claw," lives up to its pretty simple name. We all know that daddy dearest has those six knuckle claws, where X-23 is more streamlined with just the four. However, like something from Kingsman: The Secret Service or a Bond film, Kinney is packing some extra weaponry in her little piggies. The comic books depict X-23 with a singular adamantium claw on each foot, giving her the advantage over her enemies and a deadly addition to Dancing with the Stars.

The TV spot sees the usual reams of footage, including Richard E. Grant's Dr. Zander Rice and a rattling cage — presumably containing X-23. We see Jackman, claws out, before a brief glimpse of Kinney being dragged away, popping out her foot claw and taking down a bad guy. The spot ends as it cuts to Jackman about to utter a naughty swear, confirming that will also be adhering to the film's R-rating.

The introduction of the foot claw further affirms that Mangold really knows his stuff about Wolverine's lore, and that could be the film we all deserve — not all heroes wear capes, some have foot claws too.

Promising to be a "bring your kid to work day" adventure, Logan sees Jackman's Wolverine and Keen's Kinney tour the mutant apocalypse. With more trailers and TV spots than you can shake a stick at, we can now piece together roughly what happens in the film's run-time, helped slightly by Marco Beltrami's soundtrack and the inclusion of songs like "Feral Tween," however, this is the first time we have seen the foot claw.

There is no doubt that is setting up Keen to be the universe's next Wolverine in upgraded form, at least until Jackman is recast, presumably somewhere down the line. Producer Simon Kinberg has already teased that this is only the beginning for the 11-year-old's tenure as the pint-sized blade-wielder:

“Again, the real criteria is always to find a story that can really be unique, distinct, compelling, surprising, bold … all of that. She’s an amazing character, and Dafne does a great job launching the character in the film, so I think there’s a good chance you’ll see something of that kind down the line … at least I hope so.”

The film isn't even out yet, but fans are clamoring for Kinney to move into the rest of the universe, or even hold up a solo film of her own. One thing is for sure though, Holbrook and Grant are going to have to have some pretty fancy footwork to survive Logan without being shredded like yesterday's newspaper.
