It's been so long since any news was heard about long-stalled horror project The Vatican Tapes (over three years, to be exact) that many thought the plug had been yanked. The movie was originally supposed to be directed by . But news broke that Lakeshore Entertainment has finally raised the capital to hire another director, this time for good.
Variety reports that has been tapped to sit in the director's chair for the movie, which has been stuck in pre-production purgatory for years.
This will be Neveldine's first solo directing gig, though he has experience in the past with co-directing movies like Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance with , the Crank films and Gamer.
Similar in theme to Rosemary's Baby or The Exorcist (creepy), the plot revolves around a series of supernatural events that unfold after a tape gets leaked from the Vatican displaying an exorcism that goes horribly awry.
