The wait for The Last Jedi is slowly but surely coming to an end, and our hunger for information and details on the story and characters is at an all-time high. While Lucasfilm hasn't been as secretive as it usually is with the galaxy far, far away, the company has taken its fair share of measures to ensure that no juicy details slip out in things like merchandise. In fact, Rian Johnson has stated that the movie's merchandise was carefully crafted so as to not give any crucial information away.

But let's face it, folks, we're hardcore fans, so that statement hasn't stopped us from looking anywhere we can for clues. Fortunately, my fellow nerds, that resilience has paid off, because one piece of merchandise has surfaced that creates an interesting tie between Luke Skywalker and his father, .

Great Outfit, Luke

Lucasfilm and partnered with Topps to create a Star Wars digital card-trading game. There are over 1000 cards in existence, ranging from the original trilogy, all the way to the new one headlined by Rey, Finn and Poe. To prepare for the release of The Last Jedi, Topps has started releasing The Last Jedi centric-cards.

One of them, as we should have expected, focuses on . Here's the interesting thing about this particular collectible though: The card offers an exciting new look at the character, because it reveals a brand new outfit. Check it out in all of its Jedi glory:

Notice anything unusual, or perhaps familiar about the image? Allow me to give you a hand. This picture is a clever homage to Luke's father. His outfit is strikingly similar to 's Jedi garbs in Revenge Of The Sith.

Is This Similar Look Telling Us Something?

Luke's allegiance to the light side of the Force in The Last Jedi has been put into question by fans throughout the past few months. The guy is probably not going full Sith on us, but there have been enough noticeable visual clues in the film's posters and trailers hinting at the fact that he's treading the fine line between the light and dark sides of the Force.

At the risk of looking too much into something that may not be anything at all, I'm wondering whether Luke's new Anakin-like outfit is a clue to that ambiguity. Prior to becoming Darth Vader, Anakin had an ambiguous relationship with the Force. He was definitely a good guy wanting to make the galaxy a better place. However, there was enough doubt in his spirit to make him question the ways and eventually turn into a heartless murderer.

As mentioned, being the great hero that he is, I doubt Luke will completely turn to the dark side. But with his ominous statement about the Jedi needing to end during one of the movie's trailer, there's definitely doubt in him regarding his former allegiance. If that's indeed the case, those garbs similar to his father's could be a really clever reference.

We'll get to know for sure what's going on with Luke when The Last Jedi hits theaters on December 15, 2017.

What do you think Luke Skywalker's Anakin-like new costume means for the character? Let me know in the comments!
