I remember the first issue of Mad Magazine that I read as a kid. I didn't know what to make of it and had never previously bought an issue for myself, but I was staying with a relative who had a subscription and happened to glance inside. I was in stitches over a featured movie parody entitled Lethal Wreckin' 3.

Mad Magazine has set the standard for satirical movie-centric cartoons. That tradition continues in their upcoming June 2014 issue. This "Graduation Issue" will contain a pointed parody of 's The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. Movie Pilot has the exclusive premiere of this parody "The Slobbit: The Adaptation's a Slog" written by Desmond Devlin and illustrated by Tom Richmond.

As someone who hasn't been the world's biggest fan of The Hobbit movies, I found this to be both clever and delightful. Yet even if I was a huge fan of The Desolation of Smaug, I'm a bigger fan of well-constructed satire. Well done, Mad.

Here too is the cover of the June 2014 issue (Issue #527), which will hit stands on April 22nd. Let us know what you think!
