Some very good news for fans of , or just smart spy flicks in general: Our Kind of Traitor, written by the master of the genre, is on its way to the big screen, and and are in "advanced negotiations" to participate in the movie.

What's more, the adaptation will be directed by (The Snowtown Murders), scripted by (Drive) with (Trainspotting, The Impossible) in the lead. Can we get an amen? Those two together, with McGregor. Come on.

According to Indie Wire, the movie tells the story of:

An English couple who get mixed up with a Russian businessman who turns out to be an oligarch, and one of the world's biggest money launderers. They get caught up in his plans to defect and are soon positioned between the Russian Mafia and the British Secret Service, neither of whom they can trust.” McGregor will be playing one half of the English couple with Mikkelson as the money-laundering Russian, and Fiennes as a UK government advisor.

I must admit that I'm impressed with the development of Our Kind of Traitor. The movie already features an impressive cast, especially if Fiennes and Mikkelsen sign on, and with 's successful rendition of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and its sequel in the works, it will be interesting to see another director tackle one of Le Carre's dense espionage novels. The movie is set to begin shooting this summer in Moscow, Marrakech, Paris, London, and Switzerland. Let's hope for a swift shoot and speedy 2014 release.

Oh, and if you were hoping for proof that the company is still going ahead with an adaptation of Smiley’s People, there is more awesome news. According to Screen Daily:

It's still at the development stage – but, yes, the old team of and is back together. The same Tinker Tailor actors whose characters would reappear are well aware of what we're doing. We're hopeful for a 2014 shoot.
