Mandy Moore is back, people! Everyone's favorite teen queen from the early '00s got her start starring in hit films like A Walk to Remember and The Princess Diaries. She also topped the music charts back in the day with her hits, "Candy" and "I Wanna Be With You."
After taking a little time off to start a family, the star has recently made a resurgence starring in the hit NBC series This Is Us, which has topped the ratings chart as the most-watched new drama of the year. It also earned the actress a Golden Globe nomination. I think that it's safe to say #MandyMoore has officially made her comeback!
Well, this June she will be making her return to the big screen, but it's not how you think. No, she won't be battling teen cancer or singing her way into love. She is starring in a brand new shark thriller titled, 47 Meters Down. Personally, I'm stoked to see the starlet back on the big screen in a way we have never seen her before.
The official synopsis of 47 Meters Down goes as follows:
Two sisters (Mandy Moore and Claire Holt), vacationing in Mexico become trapped in a shark cage on the ocean floor. As their oxygen starts to run out and with great white sharks circling them, the sisters must find a way to get to the surface alive.
Damn. That sounds pretty intense. It seems that Blake Lively in The Shallows has a little bit of competition in the shark department.

Welp, there goes the chance of me ever going shark cage diving (as if I would ever go in the first place). Of course, filming a shark movie may leave you with a couple nicks and scratches. The star took to her Instagram page to share a couple behind-the-scenes snaps.
The This Is Us star filmed the movie back in early 2016 in the UK and it appears she didn't escape completely unscathed. She captioned:
Only I could somehow manage to hurt myself fake fighting a fake shark. Figures. #47mdown
She even shared a couple of behind-the-scenes pics of her with Bob (the shark). However, fans are not to worry. The shark is simply a prop stand-in and is not used in the actual movie.
Lastly, she shared a snap of the tank that they filmed all of the under water scenes in.
Looks pretty awesome, doesn't it? Shark movies seem to be rising in popularity. Last summer, Blake Lively battled the beast in The Shallows, next year Jason Statham fights a massive great white in Meg, and of course, how could I not mention Tara Reid and the five Sharknado movies?
I can't wait for Mandy Moore to kick some serious shark ass! Are you looking forward to it? Let me know in the comments below.
47 Meters Down hits theaters June 16, 2017!
