The Princess Diaries came around in 2001 and it wormed its way into the hearts of millions of fans. A sequel, Royal Engagement, came around three years later and had pretty much the same effect as its predecessor. Sadly, over a decade passed without us hearing anything about a potential third part — until recently, that is. Last year, Julie Andrews announced the film was moving forward in honor of Garry Marshall's death.

No further details on the story have been revealed since, but now one actress has given us an exciting proposal for it, . What many (aside from diehard fans, of course) may not remember is that Moore appeared in as Lana Thomas, 's ruthless rival, who was willing to do anything to discredit the princess in hiding. Well, what if I told you she's all in for coming back to her role?

The actress sat down for an interview with Cosmopolitan to discuss her life, and her hit show . There, she was asked about the possibility of Thomas going back to the Royal world in The Princess Diaries 3. Here's what she had to say about that:

"I don't think it would make sense for my character, the high school bully, to appear. Maybe I would make some quick cameo. I would like to see this woman evolve."

Like I said, don't let that quote crush your hopes of seeing her again. Moore also cautioned that if she were to be a part of the film, she could have a redemption-centered cameo for her mean girl:

"If I'm going to be involved, I would be down for a cameo — maybe she could make amends with Mia and apologize for being a bully when she was younger. She was insecure, going through a difficult time in her life and [has now] reflected on why that wasn't okay."

Yeah, that sounds like an awesome cameo. I've always been a fan of movies exploring reformed bullies and where they are in their lives after many years, so it would be interesting to see what became of the gum-chewing Thomas.

Which Other Actor Is Down For Princess Diaries 3?

Moore's comments got me thinking about the returning faces we could see in the film and which actors have spoken about being willing to come back for the highly anticipated next chapter in the history of Genovia:

Chris Pine

took part in a Tumblr Q&A for Entertainment Weekly, and he responded with this when asked about whether he got emotional for a every night:

OK, he said it in a jokey matter, but he was one of the most awesome parts of The Princess Diaries 2 and I've been wanting to see more of his character and Mia together for a long time, so a guy can dream, can't he?

Hector Elizondo

played Queen Clarisse's loyal bodyguard and love interest, Joe. The Princess Diaries 2 ended with Joe and the Queen getting married, so we can't have a third chapter without him. Elizondo understands this because he's all in, as he revealed during an interview with Huffington Post last year:

"Joe has to come back no matter what. They'll dust him off, take him out of the closet and prop him up there somewhere. Of course, Joe has to come back. He’s part of the family and we’re looking forward to it."

Julie Andrews And Anne Hathaway

And of course, what new Princes Diaries chapter would be complete without Mia Thermopolis and Queen Clarisse? Fortunately for us, both and have been the strongest advocates to get the movie made, especially after Garry Marshal's passing, as Andrews revealed during an interview with Buzzfeed:

"There's talk about it. And [Anne Hathaway]'s very keen to do it. I would very willingly and happily do it. I think we might do it in honor of him. Annie had an idea that she wanted to pursue about it, and I'm all for it."

So far, The Princess Diaries 3 doesn't have a release date. But with the wheels seemingly turning once again and every single one of the original cast members willing to return, hopefully it means it won't be long until we get to see Mia's shenanigans on screen one again. I've been a big fan of the series for years, so I can't wait to see it materialize.

What do you think about Moore's comments regarding The Princess Diaries 3? Would you like to see her return as the baddie?
